2026–2027 Academic Year Calendar

This academic calendar runs from August 2026 through July 2027. It brings twelve months from two calendar years into one ordered overview, starting with August and ending with July. Use it for a school-year planning reference, then add your institution's confirmed dates yourself. The grid contains accurate calendar dates, not a guessed timetable of classes, examinations or breaks. Choose paper size, first weekday and optional week numbers or federal marks before printing or downloading.

Why this overview begins in August

An August–July overview is useful for a US school-year plan that spans the end of one calendar year and the beginning of the next. It is the range selected for this printable, not a universal definition of an academic year. Some institutions organize their annual calendar from September through August, and their teaching periods can begin or finish on different dates within those months.

The first five mini calendars are August, September, October, November and December 2026. January through July 2027 follow them. Keep both year labels visible when copying a date into another document. The month name alone can be misleading around applications, registration or recurring events that share similar names from one academic cycle to the next.

The 2027–2028 academic overview uses the same August–July span for the following cycle. Each is a separate twelve-month reference; neither creates a full collection of public monthly pages for the additional calendar years.

Add only confirmed institution dates

Begin with the school's or university's published calendar. Copy the stated start of teaching, submission dates and closures into a short key beside the overview. Distinguish an application deadline from the start of classes, and a staff preparation day from a student attendance day. Those events can share a month without having the same practical meaning for the person using the sheet.

Keep tentative arrangements in a separate note until the institution confirms them. If a schedule is revised, replace the handwritten entry and record the version or publication date of the source. The printable cannot know a district's local closure or a department's examination timetable. An empty date cell simply has no personal entry; it does not establish that classes meet or offices open that day.

Use the mini grids for a small number of milestones. A weekly planner gives more room for recurring study sessions, and an undated calendar can hold a short project that does not align with one whole month.

Federal holiday references for 2026 and 2027

The reference tables distinguish statutory US federal holiday dates from standard observed dates for a Monday–Friday federal work schedule. Their sources are OPM's 2026 schedule and OPM's 2027 schedule, with the statutory holidays defined in 5 U.S.C. 6103. The full-year tables provide context; only August 2026–July 2027 belongs to this calendar's printed range.

In 2026, Independence Day falls on Saturday 4 July and its standard observed date is Friday 3 July, both before this academic overview begins. Within the displayed 2027 portion, Juneteenth falls on Saturday 19 June with Friday 18 June observed, and Independence Day falls on Sunday 4 July with Monday 5 July observed. A statutory date and an observed weekday are separate references, even when they describe the same holiday.

Federal marks are off by default. Enable them to display short statutory labels and observed-only marks in the grid. These dates do not supply a school holiday calendar: a district, university or private employer can publish a different closure schedule. Verify the relevant institution's information before adding breaks or assuming that a federal mark means no classes.

Print a clear academic-year reference

Choose Sunday or Monday as the first column consistently across all twelve mini calendars. Add ISO or US week numbers only if you use that convention elsewhere; the week number guide explains why the week year can differ from the civil year near January. A numbered row is a date reference, not a numbered teaching week assigned by an institution.

Match A4 or Letter to the paper available, select the orientation, and inspect the preview before printing. PDF provides a prepared document; JPEG is an image of the overview. Mini calendars are better suited to short symbols than long handwritten descriptions. Keep a clean saved master and place detailed notes on a separate sheet if several people need to read the same schedule.

Browser printing removes navigation, controls and explanatory sections from the calendar view. Check its paper and scaling settings before making several copies. Your handwritten entries stay on the printed copy, and the site does not store a student timetable or synchronize changes with another service.

Frequently asked questions

Which months does the 2026–2027 academic calendar include?

It begins with August 2026 and ends with July 2027. The twelve grids contain August–December 2026 followed by January–July 2027, preserving the actual year of each month.

Does every US school use an August–July year?

No. This printable uses that planning range, but institutions set their own academic calendars. Some use September–August or other arrangements. Check the school's or university's published dates rather than inferring its term boundaries from this overview.

Are school breaks and examination dates already included?

No. Add those dates from the responsible institution's published schedule. The calendar does not invent local closures, term starts or examination periods. Federal references are a separate category and do not establish attendance requirements.

Can I show federal holidays on the academic grid?

Yes. Enable holiday marks to show sourced statutory and observed references within the displayed months. The default grid has no marks. The tables explain the 2026 and 2027 dates, including weekend-related observed weekdays.

Are ISO week numbers the same as teaching-week numbers?

Not necessarily. ISO numbers follow a calendar standard, while an institution may number teaching weeks from its own start date and treat breaks separately. Use the institution's convention when a course requires a numbered teaching week.
